The Sleepover Part 1 (AHW)

Yesterday I had a sleepover with my friends, Ali and Emeline. We had so much fun. When I got to Emeline's house, Mrs. Martin offered me a slice of pizza, I politely accepted and then Emeline and I went downstairs to the basement. Mrs. Martin put a slice of pizza and a juice pack on a mini-fridge and left us to play. We started a game of Pictonary and after a while Ali came downstairs. Emeline's little brother, Shay thought she was a little kid like him and wanted to meet her. Since Ali just got there, we restarted the unfinished game of Pictonary but again, never finished before we decided to play a different game. Clue. I had never played before and was only starting to understand when the game finished.

(This version has not inluded the many times Shay threw a tantrum because he didn't get his way.)

Wonder Literary essay Draft 3

 In the story, Wonder, the main character is a boy starting middle school with a face much different than everyone else's. In chapter one, Ordinary, on page 3, it says "I know I'm not an ordinary ten-year-old kid ........ I know ordinary kids don't get stared at wherever they go." August is aware that his face looks different from everyone else's. He would probably stare at someone else if their face looked like his. "My name is August, by the way. I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse." I think the meaning of Wonder is (as it says on the back of the jacket of the book) to never judge a person by their face. I also think that this book by R.J. Polacio is about never giving up.

   Throughout the book, it shows that, in the beginning, August struggles to fit in during his first year of school. It's hard enough starting a new middle school. It's impossible for me to imagine what it would be like starting a new school and having to get through it with a disorder right smack on my face. Where everyone gets looked at the most. This shows that, even when he really wants to and has bad days, August never gives up no matter how much he wants to. No matter how many bad days.

    

   Also in the story, on page 118, part three starts. The narrator is now Summer and the quote showing on the first page is as follows:

This shows that it doesn't matter what someone says about you that you are still a good person. Being beautiful doesn't always mean that you look good. Sometimes it's about who you are on the inside and not how you look.

   By the end, August is close to "famous" at his school. After the trip to camp, everyone has heard about the fight that August, Amos, Henry, Miles, and Jack had gotten into with Eddie and his friends. Everyone feels bad for him and some people think he is very brave. Everyone except Julian is giving Auggie high fives and patting him on the back and stuff. "Amos looked at me and nodded. 'It was cool ow you stood your ground, little dude,' he said, high-fiving me."

          Have you ever broken a bone? Well then you know that it heals with time. You know that you only need to wear a cast for a few weeks depending on how bad it is. During that time, everyone wants to know what happened and they always stare at you. Well

Half Upon a Time Literary Essay (Not Finished)

   Perseverance. I at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That is what the 340 page book, Half Upon a Time by James Riley is all about. Jack and May don't have it easy in life and it doesn't get any better after they stumble upon a royal prince. May is from our world but gets taken through a portal by three hairy monsters. Jack's grandfather is known as the main character from Jack and the Beanstalk. Of course you know who that is: Jack. Jack lll is the main character in this book. Jack and May find that there is much more to the fairy tale world than they expected. They face many problems but still, they find a way to complete their journey. Face a problem, try again. Persevere. Half Upon a Time is all about perseverance.

Yummy Foods (AHW)

I think Pizza is so good. It is warm and is so cheesy with any toppings you want!

Chicken Alfredo is the second best thing you can make with noodles! (Except for maybe a replica of the Eiffel Tower) The sauce is so good especially if you add extra cheese. It also tastes good with broccoli mixed in.

Spaghetti is for dinner tonight and it is ma absolute FAVORITE meal of all time. It's so amazing, and the saucey sauce is so good and if you sprinkle some parmesan cheese on, it makes it even better! (As you can probably see, I really like cheese.)


So, yeah, those are some deliciously yummy foods. :) :)

Choice Hour (AHW)

Today, I had an awesome choice hour called Duo Lingo. It was really fun. You basically just learn a new language but you learn it in a fun way. It's really fast to learn and the language I chose is Irish. It's kinda hard but not really. Also, at 4:05, the teacher, Mr McCloud let us play games on the computer until 4:10. I played Electric Man 2 on this site called Unblocked Games most of the time. Then I started playing some other games on that website until the bell rang, signalling everyone to go home.

The Sled (AHW)

Today, I walked in the door and saw a small, red sled with straps to buckle someone in. Right away, I knew it must be for Ben, my baby brother. It has a string on the front and I immediately thought, Ben would have so much fun if I pulled him around outside in this! I could imagine Ben sitting in the sled as I pulled him in the snowy weather. I could imagine him giggling his cute giggle and clapping. I can't wait until the weekend so I can do that with him. ;)

Auditions (AHW)

AUDITIONING FOR BLUE LAKE

   I was super nervous as I walked into the farthest practice room on the right. The man who worked at Blue Lake Fine Arts camp (BLFA) was waiting for me. I was wondering if I could do as good as Ellie. She had gone just before me and I was about to play the same song as her.

   "How are you?" said the man.

   "Good," I replied. I was starting to feel a bit more confident.

   "What's your name?" He asked.

   "Alex," I said

  "Okay, Alex, are you ready?"

   "Yes."

   "Go ahead."

   I started to play French Folk Song hoping that my violin was well-tuned. The more I played, the more confident I grew. I had only played the first line or so when-

.   "Alex," He said.

   I didn't quite understand what he said.
 
   "What?" I asked

   "You're all set," The man replied.

   Wow, I thought, That was fast.

    I started to walk out the door. 

   "Wait," he said and handed me a small piece of folded paper.

   The cover had many pictures and read:

   Blue Lake
   It all starts here.

   I walked out of the practice room, knowing I did well. I hadn't made any mistakes and as I played I heard a nice, full, smooth sound.

Dinner (AHW)

Today, both my aunts and my baby brother are sick and throwing up. I feel so bad for them. Today, everyone in my house except for Michael and I had chicken noodle soup for dinner. I had a sandwich and two slices if cantaloupe. My brother Michael had IS having a ham and mayonnaise sandwich with fruit "salad" (I write it like that because -->) consisting of only two fruits. Who calls that a salad?! The two fruits were apple slices and banana slices. I told him we had watermelon, cantaloupe, and blackberries but he didn't want anything. And now it's a rather odd meal as it is made up of:

-- A ham and mayonnaise sandwich
-- Sliced up banana in a bowl
-- Sliced up apple in the same bowl
-- And finally... Orange juice with a pink straw in it

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that a better choice of beverage would be water or milk. Just not orange juice. Yes, that is how crazy my brother is. Not only that, but he actually wanted to add slices of TOMATO into his fruit "salad". Pathetically...... Disgusting.

He was trying to describe a shape kinda like a clover but with about twelve leaves instead of three.

I don't actually remember what else he said but then he was naming a bunch of the layers he was wearing.

These pieces were just repeating everything Michael said to well, no one in particular. But anyway it was really random and so funny and weird of course. (By the way, Michael is usually like this so don't worry) :P

AHW-The Walk Home

"Wooooooohoo!" exclaimed my brother Michael as he slid across the icy sidewalk.

"Wooooah" I said as I tried it, too. Hey, it looked pretty fun, okay?

"Woah!" Michael said as he nearly, nearly fell over.

He is going pretty fast; I'd prob'ly do the same.

"C'mon, let's go," Michael said and started walking toward the end of Sheridan. I followed close behind him.When we got to our house, Michael dragged the trash can from the curb to the end of our driveway at the side of the garage.

Once we got inside, I made a list (with times) of what to do after I folded the clothes that I took out of the dryer right before I left for school earlier today. I was almost finished folding when Aunt Jen and my cousin/brother (He's my cousin but he lives with me so he's kind of my brother) Benjamin -- or Ben -- got home from work and daycare.


Tonight, we're going to have spaghetti for dinner and that is my all-time favorite meal. Oh, gotta go: it's ready!
